I didn't know I had fat ankles until I started taking pictures of my feet.
Almost a year ago I decided to explore sock making. My first pair was done on 5 needles and seemed to take for ever. It was about to be a short lived passion when I found a book.
Toe-up 2 at a Time by Melissa Morgan-Oaks.
So what that means is .... two socks can be knit at the same time, when one sock is done, so is the other! yay. and they are guaranteed to be the same size. Not an easy feet (ha) when knitting one at a time!
The other bonus about this method is that you knit them with circular kneedles. (Spell check wants me to change that to needles ... but I'm not going to!)
I love the way you cast on, the knitting starts at the toe.
I love the way you do the heel, you increase for a while and then knit stitches together ... instead of decreasing and picking up stitches which was just messy!
I have a great way to cast off which insures they stretch enough to get them on (over my fat ankles!).
And I am actually wearing and loving them.
I think I will knit socks for the rest of my life.
