I often ask this question, mostly out of curiosity. (I get Brent to make my eggs, he has telepathic ability to read how done my egg is by the way the steam rolls of the egg when held out of the water on a spoon)
I asked Melanie this morning before our staff meeting.
She believes in Martha Stewart ... here is what you do.
- take a pot
- put your egg into it
- cover it with cold water, about 1/2 inch over
- turn burner on high
- time from a rolling boil for 1 minute
- cover
- remove from heat
- leave for 3 mins to have a soft egg, run under cold water to stop the cooking and make it easier to peel
- or leave it for 13 mins if you want a hard boiled egg, and then do the cold water thingy.
